Footprint Friends Foundation
1. To promote for the benefit of the public the conservation protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment
Activities in support of object 1
The Foundation’s main activity in support of this object will be sharing information and providing access to a range of information, advice, support and to the work of other related charities and organisations, by means of the Footprint Friends Website.
The website provides a space for debate and covers age ranges from 11 years to adult.
The Foundation will also develop relationships with other environmental and conservation organisations with the aim of sharing their information with the growing internet community who visit and use the Footprint Friends website.
2. To advance the education of young people in the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment
Activities in support of object 2
The Foundation seeks to develop a network of schools and colleges, through the dedicated Footprint Friends Foundation areas on the Footprint Friends website with the aim of supporting young people as they seek out information concerning conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment.
The Foundation will produce some promotional material in support of this object, but our primary role is to act as a conduit for information developed by more experienced and expert organisations in this field, and support its dissemination and distribution.
The website is the primary means of delivery for this, but the Foundation will be developing packs for teachers and young people to use in schools and colleges.
As a UK organisation with a global reach, the Foundation via Footprint Friends will be able to put young people in the UK in touch with global climate change champions, and like minded young people from across the world.
3. To help young people engaged in sustainable development, conservation protection and rehabilitation of the environment so as to further advance their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals
Footprint Friends Foundation has been nominated as the charity of the year by Think 08 and will be a key player at the Think 08 show on the built environment. At that event young people will be given direct access to senior managers and chief executives of national, multinational and global firms and be encouraged to talk to them face to face at the event about issues which concern them.
Footprint Friends Foundation will seek to provide similar outlets for young people to develop their skills in this way over the coming years.
Through active participation in the Footprint Friends Website Forums, we will encourage young people to take an active role in developing their skills and knowledge around environmental issues and understanding.
4. To act as a resource for young people (up to the age of 20) to assist them in initiating, organising and running small scale projects that contribute to the sustainable development, conservation, protection or rehabilitation of the physical and natural environment of their local community.
Sustainable development means “development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
By providing cash grants to young people’s organisations or to young people themselves who are directly engaged in local community initiatives and activities which support sustainable development, conservation, protection or rehabilitation of the environment.
